Teresa, a potential entrepreneur participating in the 20 week course at The Hope Factory, was feeling rather demotivated due to the current financial crisis she was in. She wanted to start selling linen from home, but didn't yet own a sewing machine. She also, after having done some market research, identified the need for selling vegetables in her community.
During a brainstorming session with her business mentor, Teresa decided to borrow a sewing machine and make a set of kitchen curtains. She took these to her community and sold them for R450, which was the boost she needed financially to get her vegetable business off the ground. Teresa also sourced a reliable and affordable supplier, and also started implementing a record-keeping system to track all her business expenses.
Life has changed for the better for Teresa, and she is grateful to The Hope Factory and her mentor for all the sound advice she received to create the platform for her success.
