On 5 November 2025, The Hope Factory proudly hosted a small and inspiring graduation ceremony in Bedford, Eastern Cape, to honour the achievements of entrepreneurs who successfully completed the Amakhala Small Business Support Programme. This event was more than a graduation, it was a tribute to resilience, innovation, and the unwavering determination of small business owners committed to transforming their communities.
In partnership with Chemical Industries Education & Training Authority (CHIETA) and Amakhala Emoyeni Community, The Hope Factory launched this initiative to uplift passionate start-ups and micro businesses within the cosmetic industry. The programme specifically targeted women over 40 years of age, living within a 50km radius of Tsitsikamma, who were eager to start or grow their businesses. Its core mission: empower 100% Black-Owned Women-Owned businesses, fostering inclusivity and meaningful impact in rural communities.
The graduation ceremony showcased remarkable achievements that reflect the programme’s intended outcomes:
- 100% Business Registration – All participating SMMEs are now formally registered.
- 99% completed practical cosmetics training.
- Entrepreneurs actively leveraged social media to promote their products locally.
- Lindelwa Mabila achieved SABS approval for her household chemical detergents, a major milestone for product credibility.
- One participant has already employed four individuals, contributing to local economic growth.
- 5 out of 10 SMMEs acquired essential equipment, and 3 are generating income through product sales.
- One entrepreneur is preparing to launch operations from a trading container, pending municipal approval.
These milestones underscore the programme’s impact in fostering sustainable businesses and creating economic opportunities in Bedford and surrounding areas.
The event featured messages of support from Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT), Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency (SEDFA), National Empowerment Fund (NEF), and the Department of Social Development, all applauding the entrepreneurs’ dedication and The Hope Factory’s role in driving socio-economic development with the partnership of CHIETA (Chemical Industries Education & Training Authority) and Cennergi Services through their community trust.
By hosting this intimate ceremony, The Hope Factory honoured the hard work and perseverance of SMMEs who embraced the journey of growth. This celebration reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and building thriving communities.
