Annual Report 2015 - page 6

Musa Gumede is one determined and focused
entrepreneur. It was during his employment as a driver at
Coca Cola that he applied for their ED initiative, which was
an owner-driver scheme. Musa's application was
successful and Sthandokuhle Transport was born. A truck
was leased to him and with his many years of experience
with Coca Cola, he was able to transition relatively easily
into being a small business owner in the space.
Coca Cola is their main customer and they currently
operate in the surrounding areas of Witbank, delivering
Coca-Cola products. They fetch products from the
Witbank plant and deliver to Shoprite and some small
Spaza shops in the area as well as in Nigel.
Due to continuous growth in the business, they have been
able to buy their own 34 ton truck, as well as increase their
staff to 5. Future plans include buying more trucks and
trailers and establishing a national footprint.
Musa acknowledges that joining The Hope Factory
mentorship programme has had an immense impact on
his business. Becoming a small business owner required
a lot of self-development. He found the Marketing and
Research workshops particularly helpful and now applies
learnt business practices in Sthandokuhle Transport.
