Veronica’s Bakery
Veronica's Bakery is a bakery situated in Randburg, Johannesburg at the corner of Selkirk and Blairgowrie streets. A second
shop has been opened recently at the corner of Jan Smuts and Bordeaux. Veronica Shezi started the business in her garage 10
years agowhileworking as a database administrator and she opened her first shop in 2008.
The business now employs 18 staff, including 3 managers, 2 drivers, 4 cake decorators and 7 bakers. Most of the bakers arrive
as unskilled labour and with the in-house training that they have received at Veronica's Bakery their lives have been
transformed to responsible individuals with secured employment and sustainable income. The short-term goal of the business
is to open two more shops, one in the Johannesburg city center and the other in Midrand. These shops will be used to
understand and formulating processes for franchising in future.
