Impacting communities through entrepreneurship

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) encourages companies to pursue their responsibility towards society beyond their own profit maximisation. The heart behind CSR is therefore making an impact in the lives of people to ensure a better society for all. It speaks to a real concern for the well-being of an individual, just like Lorna Le Roux has, owner of I AM Creations. “Twelve years ago, I received the vision for my business when I saw the brokenness in woman and realised that my passion for the fashion industry can be used to dress woman in a way that will embrace and show their inner beauty.”

I AM Creations specialises in design and manufacturing of wedding gowns,  bridesmaid attire, farewell and special occasion dresses as well as suits. Lorna explains that business is not just about money for her, but about people, who are more valuable than money. She aspires to serve with integrity, respect and commitment and aims to clothe people so that they radiate wholeness.

“Joining The Hope Factory Personal Development in Business Programme earlier this year has helped me to find wholeness for myself,” explains Lorna. “The timing was perfect and since then my business is starting to pick up”. She explains that being on the programme has given her hope and made her part of a community of entrepreneurs.

Through Lorna's loyalty to her clients and genuine relationships she dresses them for all their important moments, like matric farewells, 21st birthdays, graduation days through to their weddings. “Contributing to the success of a milestone event is a fantastic feeling,” says Lorna.

In addition, Lorna's heart for her community has encouraged her to be involved in other community projects such as, Aid in Motion that aims to create food gardens to provide for those in need.

It is inspiring - how Lorna is operating her business in a way that not only ensures a sustainable income for her, but that makes a positive contribution in the lives of her clients and community.
